The 2025 grape harvest has already begun at Bodegas Ferrera , marking the start of one of the most important moments of the year at our organic winery in Tenerife. This new season comes with great expectations and some very special news: for the first time, we will be harvesting the Baboso Negro variety , a native Canarian grape that promises to be a hot topic.
A harvest marked by quality and commitment
Thanks to balanced climatic conditions during spring and summer—with moderate temperatures, light rainfall, and an excellent temperature range— the grapes ripened optimally . Our vineyards, located at altitude and cultivated using organic techniques, produced high-quality bunches, perfect for producing fresh, expressive wines with a volcanic identity.
At Bodegas Ferrera, we experience the grape harvest as a blend of effort, tradition, and passion. Each bunch is hand-picked , selecting only the grapes at their perfect point of ripeness, with the aim of faithfully reflecting the character of our land.
First harvest of Baboso Negro at Bodegas Ferrera
This year we celebrated an important milestone: the first Baboso Negro harvest at our winery . After years of dedication and monitoring in the vineyard, this native red variety from the Canary Islands—also known as Baboso or Bastardo Negro—offers us its first harvest under ideal conditions for vinification.
Baboso Negro is a long-cycle, difficult-to-cultivate grape of great oenological value , notable for its deep color, intense aromas, and elegant tannins. Incorporating it into our wines represents a further step in our commitment to the recovery of local varieties and innovation within organic viticulture in the Canary Islands.
A promising harvest and much to celebrate
Over the next few weeks, the Bodegas Ferrera team will be focused on harvesting and vinifying this 2025 vintage , which is set to be one of the most balanced and expressive in recent years.
We invite our followers, customers, and wine lovers to stay tuned to our social media and blog, where we'll be sharing grape harvest moments and first impressions of Baboso Negro.
The grape harvest is underway… and this year, we're toasting to something new.
